Cause let’s face it, making one is whole lot of work!

Easter baskets were always one of my favorite parts of the holiday, but that was until I was ready to gift one for someone else.  The idea of dying eggs, buying colored straw, and putting together the entire basket was enough to have me walk out of target.

Enter Cheryl’s (the cookie spot).

I’ve profiled them before, but this time I’m enamored by their

“Easter Baskets”.  It’s a basket full of Easter cheer but completely made of cookies so the who thing is edible.

They’re still time to order and they have free shipping going on right now.

Subscription gifts share the love on a regular basis….

I have to say that I’m loving this “subscription gift” idea where retailers mail order a box of goodies based on a theme (healthy living, fitness, skincare, etc).  More of them seem to pop up every day and I’ll be sharing them as I find them (stay tuned for Father’s Day posts).

Here are some you may have heard of…

With Birchbox, customers can get monthly deliveries of personalized beauty, grooming, and lifestyle samples, tailored to their profile. It’s great for beauty afficionados who are always looking for the next trend.

Perfect For:  Your friend who has an overflowing bathroom cabinet.

Every month Urthbox helps customers discover healthy new foods, beverages, snacks and more for the health-conscious consumer.

Perfect For: A friend who posts healthy recipes on Instagram.

I love this concept.  It reminds me of the resources section of a magazine.  Every three months, members receive a new seasonal gift box filled with fashion finds, beauty secrets, and fitness gear for the well-rounded woman.

Perfect For:  The friends who likes to look and feel great!

Probably the most reasonably prices of the box choices, Graze offers its customers a chance to customize healthy and nutritionist-approved curated, snack boxes.

Perfect For: The friend who skips meals, but grazes on snacks all day.

A Gift New Parents Will Use All Year Long…

I had the pleasure of attending a shower for a co-worker this week and found myself shopping for a gift the weekend before (I had left it too late to brave the registry).  When I was shopping I found Baby Milestone Stickers – you know the ones that everyone is using on social media to show the passage of time and growth of their babies.

So I picked up both the 12-month and holiday sets.  Basically the parent affixes the sticker to the front of the onesie, snaps a pic, and then throws away the decal. It’s a great gift and one they will likely use all year (and cheaper than buying a special outfit).

A friend of mine is partial to the ties, which I find cute, so that’s my example of choice.

Here are some resources (just search baby milestone stickers):

Gifting a Classic Trenchcoat Never Goes out of Style….

It’s raining in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia -area) but the weather is mild so I am able to bring out my trench coat and look perfectly chic (even with sweats on underneath it).  This got me to thinking…

If you’re looking to make a gift to your favorite guy or gal, consider gifting this classic coat that can literally take the receiver from spring to late fall, especially if it’s lined (flannel or quilting).

I can’t take credit for the image – it’s courtesy of Polyvore.  But one of the reasons I think the image is so great is because it offers a choice of high- and low-end outwear that manages to look chic at every price point.

Just in case none of the designers are familiar to you, here’s a quick primer (clockwise from the top left):

Burberry.  The British clothier is classic and expensive.  So a trench from Burberry is more than a gift, it’s a relationship investment.

H&M.  A great Swedish based store that offers modern, good quality clothing at great prices.

A.P.C.  (which stands for Atelier de Production et de Création) offers a very cool and modern take on the classics.  Not quite as pricy as Burberry, but definitely more expensive than H&M.  But a good spot to find a unique take on the trench if the classic double-breasted look isn’t for you.

KMJ.  Sorry, I got nothing.  Couldn’t find them on the world wide Web… but let me know if you do!

Zara.  Kind of reminds me of H&M with more of a European feel.  Great store with a great online presence.  Happy shopping!

Uniqlo.  I tend to think of Uniqlo as the arbiter of clothes that simply work for you.  It’s also a wonderful spot for classics at a very reasonable price point considering the strong quality.

Honorable Mentions: London Fog (my favorite brand) and Calvin Klein.

Fall into a store that completely lives up to its name…

I had a quick meeting in Takoma Park, Maryland and found the traffic and parking conditions optimal for me to make a quick stop into TROHV – a store that I had driven past before and only admired from my car.

Nestled in the heart of Takoma Park and across the street from Busboys and Poets, it’s a complete treasure full of gifts for just about anyone in your life.

Here are some of the cool things I found in TROHV:

I have a friend who’s expecting so I was immediately drawn to the baby items.

I’m always on the hunt for unique items and came across this great book called the Nine ~ a pregnancy journal that allows expectant moms to write down their experiences throughout their pregnancies.

Men can be difficult to shop for, but not at TROHV.

I found so many great gifts that I didn’t take pictures of them all.

But someone is getting that DAPPER toiletry bag.  It’s too cute not to gift.

I’ve never see brown lunch bags actually marked for the day of each week, but I LOVE them!

They also have an entire section for the chic gardener in your life.

So drop into TROHV (in Takoma Park or Baltimore or online) – you won’t be sorry.

And My Go-To Place for Them…

This weekend I just hosted an event at my church with a panel of college students and recent college graduates.  These scholars gave of their time freely and joyfully and that deserves some type of thank you gift.

My go to place for items like this is TJ Maxx.  I know, I know… you may be thinking – what do I find at TJ Maxx?  But don’t sleep on their homewares section.  Mugs and journals make great gifts, especially if you can find items that best fit the personality of the receiver.

Marshall’s, HomeGoods, and Burlington are also great sources for marked down, yet chic gift options.

Picture frames, drinkware, and blankets are some of my other fave gifts from these locations.

If you love when art is fashionable, this post is for you…

It’s snowing again – this time an all day snowfall that’s begging to be shoveled, except that it’s still snowing.  But somehow I got a taste of spring when I was reading Marie Claire’s March issue and came across a blurb in the beauty section.

It turns out Sonia Kashuk, of Target fame, has teamed with her mentor, artist Linda Mason, to develop a line of make up accessories (vanity tray, brushes, etc.) especially for that wonderful store.

It comes out later this spring (once it stops snowing) and I for one cannot wait.

Gift Suggestion: Buy the entire set for a friend with just this type of style sensibility.

Send a Spot of Spring by Special Delivery.

So I sit in my house, on my new MacBook Air (my trusty Sony Vaio is now gone), looking out the window at ice and rain and longing for just a hint of spring.  What I wouldn’t give for someone in my life to surprise me with a bouquet of tulips.

So, if you need to send a gift this time of year (thank you, hostess gift, etc.) consider sending them a taste of spring (especially if they live on the eastern seaboard – have you seen Boston?).  You can send anything, but tulips are my choice.

Some Websites to use include: FTD and Pro Flowers (both have tulip bouquets on sale).
